Useful Political Discourse – Lessig Video
I don’t post much about politics here because I don’t like the requirement of rediculous, overly simplistic side taking. But I have to give in on this one…
I am a big fan of Lessig. He is a key force in the creation of the Creative Commons and presistently in favor of smart thinking on intellectual property. He has created a nice presentation on Palin’s Experience claims. First, I really love the preamble–enough with binary, loyalty-at-the-cost-of-reality thinking and speech. And, second, thanks for taking the time to present some verifiable facts.
Is there a bias? Yes. Lessig’s thoughts are organized to tell a story. But the the thinking is considered, deep and informed by history and context. Thanks for that. It is a welcome addition to useful political discourse.
The Lessig video is clearly short-sighted. Yes, Palin may have less experience than past VPs but that assumes that the role of the VP is going to be the same going forward as it has always been.
With the economy teetering on sheer collapse, global warming causing water to rise and lands to dry up and what few dollars we have left now earmarked strictly for fighting wars (thank you McCain) we’re going to be living in a much different world. Once we lose our houses, our money is best used for stuffing our mattresses and we kill the other 6.4 billion people on the planet because they looked at us funny, we’ll be back to subsistence living. And THEN who would you want leading this country?
Between aerially hunting wolves and field dressing moose she is better equipped to provide for our country than any of all those VPs with “experience.” Pfft…experience. Experience is so elitist.
